An Introvert's Dream: Ford Launches Experiment in 'Pizzautonomy' with Domino's

There are some days you don't want to leave your house. You don't want to get dressed, and put on—ugh—pants. Those are the types of days you order delivery pizza.

Except, wait. A human being has to come to your door to deliver the pizza to you. You'll have to prepare for human interaction after all! The horror.

But what if your pizza could be delivered without a driver? Ford has been developing an autonomous Ford Fusion Hybrid for years now, and it's finally going to get some real-world action this month delivering pizzas for Domino's.

"As delivery experts, we've been watching the development of self-driving vehicles with great interest as we believe transportation is undergoing fundamental, dramatic change," said Patrick Doyle, Domino's president and CEO. "We pride ourselves on being technology leaders and are excited to help lead research into how self-driving vehicles may play a role in the future of pizza delivery. This is the first step in an ongoing process of testing that we plan to undertake with Ford."
